Hair Extensions Care Guide

How to care for your hair/ Questions & Answers

Pre-Installation: Always wash the hair before installation without cutting off the plastic tie. During the wash, be sure to run your fingers through the hair in a downward motion. Let it air dry. Once dry, the hair should be tangle and shed-free.

If any problems occur during the pre-installation process, such as excessive matting or shedding, please contact us immediately for a consultation.

Daily Maintenance Natural Straight/Body Wave

·Gently brush or comb hair using a hair extension brush (loop) or wide tooth comb starting from ends working your way up to the root.

·Use alcohol free products, low heat settings on hair tools, and heat protectant products for extra protection.

·To help hair from tangling overnight, arrange hair in loose brand on either side or back of head (depending on how you sleep to avoid laying on hair as much as possible.)

·Avoid going to bed with wet hair because this can cause tangling and matting and if your foundation is damp it will cause your own hair to smell. So be sure to fully dry your hair. This can take some time but it's surely worth doing.

Natural Curly/Deep Wavy

·Lightly wet the hair with a spray bottle, then using an extensions brush or wide tooth comb, gently work from ends to root. ·Curly/deep wavy hair usually has a drier hair texture so while the hair is wet gently smooth over a leave-in conditioner or hair oil to help prevent frizzing throughout the day. Be careful not to use an excessive amount.

·Use alcohol free products, low heat settings on hair tools, and heat protectant products for extra protection.

·Do not brush through hair when it is dry because it will cause frizz. If needed, work through with a large wide tooth comb.

·To help hair from tangling overnight, arrange hair in loose braid on either side or back of head (depending on how you normally sleep to avoid laying on hair as much as possible.)

·Avoid going to bed with wet hair because this can cause tangling and matting. Closures (Silk and Lace) are handmade with delicate hand sewing that allows the hair to be parted in any direction.

·Since each hair is ventilated through and knotted directly to the closure there is not a lot of support holding the hair making closures very fragile pieces that need to be handled with extra care to prevent them from balding.

·Balding can occur from the following, but not limited to, excessive tugging, scratching with fingernails and/or foreign objects, brushing/ combing, applying product directly on closure, vigorous washing, or rough handling.

How to Wash Hair

·Depending on the amount of products being used, shampoo at least once per week. Use a shampoo with a pH balance between 4.5 and 5.5 and preferably sulfate-free.

·To prevent any mineral, build up from unfiltered or hard water, wash your extensions with tepid/cool purified or soft water.

·Hold hair in a vertical position while massaging shampoo in a downwards position.

·Because the hair strands are not receiving essential vitamins from the scalp, use a conditioner that is moisture-rich.

·While conditioner is in the hair, comb through hair from ends to scalp using a wide-tooth comb.

·Rinse thoroughly and let extensions air dry.

·When washing closures gently massage the shampoo into the hair working in a vertical position letting the hair fall in its natural position.

Questions & Answers Our Customers Ask

Q: Can the hair be straightened, curled?
A:  Yes it can, treat the hair as if it is your own. Use a flat iron/straighter or curling wand, but as with your own hair, never use hot tools too often as you could dry the hair and it will not last as long. Never over heat the hair.
Q: Can I color the hair?
A: Absolutely. The hair can be colored. It’s easier to darken the hair than to lighter the hair. We highly recommend having your hairdresser dye the extensions as you will get the results you want, coloring them yourself always poses a high risk of the hair not coming out the shade you want. If you can’t get to a salon, always use a good quality hair dye and test a small  area first.
Q: Can I wash & blow-dry the hair extensions?
A: Yes absolutely, you can wash them as you would your own hair using shampoo and conditioners that are sulfate and paraben free. Wash them gently and avoid excessive scrubbing. We also recommend using a hair treatment on them every week, because the hair is not attached to your scalp, so it’s not getting the oils it should. When using a treatment/hair mask you need to wash your extensions, once a week applying the mask to the ends of the hair to prevent them from splitting. The extensions can be blow-dried on low setting, but it is not recommended to do it too often. It is best to let your hair extensions dry naturally /air dry after washing them.
Q: How many bundles will I need for a full head?
A: Normally 3 bundles are enough for a full head, at most 5 bundles depending on the length of extensions. The Longer the lengths 22inches or more you will need more bundles to achieve the desired fullness.
You can always use the leftover hair later. If you are using hair over 22" long you might need another bundle. 30” will require at least 5 bundles.
Q, What type of hair care products should I use?
A: Again, remember to treat your hair extensions as if it was your own hair. Use good quality shampoo and conditioning products. Conditioning your hair is very important to keep it soft and manageable, so use leave in conditioners. You can also use products like gel and hair spray to keep the curls in place,
but make sure to wash your hair and not leaving in these products in for a long time.
